Single Vision Toric Lenses

    FAST MEETING FORM

What is a Monofocal Toric Lens?

Monofocal toric lenses are single-vision intraocular lenses specifically designed for patients with astigmatism who are undergoing cataract treatment. During cataract surgery, these special toric lenses are inserted after the cloudy natural lens is removed. This allows for both cataract treatment and correction of vision problems caused by astigmatism.

While standard monofocal lenses focus only on distance, monofocal toric lenses also have astigmatism correcting properties. patients may need to use glasses for near-distance vision.

    Frequently asked questions?

Areas of Use of Monofocal Toric Lenses

-As MegaGöz, we recommend monofocal toric lenses in the following cases:

-During cataract surgery: After the cloudy natural eye lens is removed, it is replaced.

-In the treatment of astigmatism: It is effective in correcting visual impairments caused by corneal and lens curvature.

-For long distance clarity: Provides the patient with high quality and clear distance vision.

These lenses are single-vision, so they only focus on distance. Patients who need to see at close range may require glasses.

    Who is it suitable for?

Monofocal toric lenses are suitable for the following patient groups:

    -Individuals diagnosed with cataracts

-Patients who have distance vision problems along with astigmatism

-Patients who need clear distance vision in their daily lives and want to minimize the use of glasses.

-Since each patient's eye structure is different, lens selection is determined through detailed examinations and tests performed by our expert ophthalmologists.

How is Monofocal Toric Lens Application Done?

Cataract surgery is performed under local (topical) anesthesia, a procedure that takes approximately 10–15 minutes. In the final stage of the surgery, a monofocal toric lens with appropriate specifications is implanted in place of the removed natural lens.

    During the surgical procedure:

-It is entered into the eye through small incisions.

-Cataract lenses are cleaned with ultrasonic devices.

-The toric lens is fixed into the eye by aligning it to the correct axis.

This procedure, performed by our expert surgeons in a sterile operating room environment, is completed safely with high success rates.

    Post-Operative Process?

Post-operative recovery is generally rapid. Patients can be discharged the same day. Regular use of eye drops and regular follow-up appointments with the doctor are important.

Monofocal toric lenses are designed to last a lifetime. However, because these lenses only clarify distance vision, patients can continue to use glasses for near-distance tasks (reading, using the phone, etc.).
